Broken Flames, written by M.K. Ahearn, is a fantasy romance based in a world that is constantly surrounded by war.  The four Kingdoms are divided by elemental abilities.  Morwen, the water kingdom, offers a nobleman’s daughter to the Prince of Abelon, the kingdom of fire, in hopes of the two kingdoms becoming allies.  The two are at a struggle between not wanting to marry their enemy and doing what’s best for their kingdom.  But the more time they spend together, the harder they find it to resist.

I really enjoyed this light fantasy romance.  I say light, because I could have used a little more world building.  With that said, I still was very much immersed in the world.

The FMC, Koraine, was a little wishy washy. One minute you felt like she was a timid girl needing saving and another she was a strong independent woman, but I also think that added to her "growing up" and coming of age. She was gaining confidence through the story which I enjoyed to see.

I love a good book that makes me feel emotions as Im reading.  I definitely felt some emotions with this book.  I would have liked to feel more though, from of the MMC, Bellamy towards Koraine.  I felt like they went from enemies to lovers suddenly.

Overall though, I enjoyed the book a lot.  I was left finishing it wondering what happens next?  I want to learn more!  If you’re also interested in checking out this fantasy, it’s expected to hit the shelves March 1st.  You can grab it here!

So what do you think?  Will you be giving this one a try?
