What are ARCs?  They are advanced reader copies of books.  Authors send them out in exchange for reviews.  These help the authors to get their books in peoples hands, get reviews out there, increase ratings ect.

I signed up to be an ARC reader for Irene Bahrd.  You can find her books here.  She writes fun, spicy romantic novels.  Her book, Unexpectedly Ruined, an interconnected standalone that is available TODAY!

Unexpectedly Ruined is about a romantic suspense author and a Scottish archeologist who had met one night in New York.  Though they had an amazing night, they never expected to see each other again.  Months later, however, they cross paths again.  Amanda is now helping Jack on his adventure through a Scottish castle, while trying not to fall in love with him.

If you’re interested in reading the story of their “one night stand”, pick up the novella, Maybe In Fifty.  It’s a fun, quick and spicy introduction to Jack and Amanda; a little background for Unexpectedly Ruined.  Plus, it will give you a good idea of what to expect with Irene Bahrd’s writing style.  And yes, I did read it.  Be prepared to want your partner after ;).

Though, Im only rating this a 3 star, I did enjoyed this story for a lot of reasons.  If you’re looking for a new book boyfriend, Jack is golden retriever and cinnamon roll vibes and I was here for it.  Amanda is sassy, has no filter and I enjoyed her wit.  There is also a little mystery woven in and I was intrigued.  I found myself looking forward to learning what they found in the Scottish castle.

If you’re into adventure romcom, insta-love, age gaps and spicy female billionaire romances, this book is definitely for you!  It has it all!  If you’re more into low spice/more closed door romances - this is not your book, please move on.

I look forward to reading more of Irene Bahrd’s books for sure!  What do you think?  Will you be picking up this book and giving it a try?
