Fourth Wing Book Review

If you follow me on social media, you may have seen me post about this book. Without sounding too dramatic ;) I was completely and utterly destroyed when I finished it. I quite literally yelled and my son made a joke calling it, book rage lol.

Fourth Wing, written by Rebecca Yarros, is a hugely popular book right now. I initially put off reading it until the second book in the series, Iron Flame, came out. And my only regret was not making sure I actually had Iron Flame in my hands, before starting Fourth Wing. Which is finally coming today, thankfully. Happy Thanksgiving to me lol.

With Hunger Games vibes, dragons and a love story that left me wanting more, Fourth Wing is a vibe! Violet Sorrengail grew up training to enter the Scribe Quadrant at Basgiath War College. Only her mother, the commanding general, forces her to enter the Riders Quadrant. The odds are stacked against Violet but she has no other choice. Like everyone else at the college, she either graduates, or she dies.

I was hooked from the get go. There’s conflict, friendships, danger, dragons, enemies and lovers. Every chapter there is something else. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t put it down. But I was devastated for it to come to an end. Not only did it leave with an awful cliff hanger, but I just wasn’t ready to give up the world of dragons.

So naturally, I rated it a 5 star. And when it comes to spice, I rated it a 3+ spice. Not because there is a whole lot of spice, but because the spice there is, is GOOD. The sexual tension is throughout, so when we made it to the deed, it made me feel things and again, left me wanting more. But in the whole of the book, there aren’t very many spicy scenes.

If you’ve ever heard of the term, book hangover, that is what I was experiencing.

A term used in the book community for when a reader is sad a book has ended and/or when a reader cannot stop thinking about a book.

Upon finishing it I found out Target was doing their buy two get one free, so naturally I ordered Iron Flame and of course two other books I have on my wish list! I’ll report back soon! But Im curious, have you jumped on the band wagon yet and read Fourth Wing? What did you think?
