Feat., Wrap ups

The not-quite weekly love fest

It has been a crazy busy week (or three)!  Staying on top of all the things I need to do just to keep my normal life going, plus staying on top of the blog, my reading lists and all the wonderful blog posts other people post – I have no idea how most bloggers manage!

We spent the weekend in the Bay of Islands, and now I’m home with about five minutes to relax before I pack my bags to head to Wellington tomorrow – whew!  I know, I shouldn’t complain. First world problems.

Speaking of first-world problems, it annoys the crap out of me that I can’t watch American Gods here yet.  American Gods has been one of my favourite books since the moment I first read it, and I want to see it so bad!! It does not help that there are spoilers everywhere! Sure, I know what happens in the book already but that doesn’t mean I can’t still be surprised by how it’s adapted for TV!  However, I am SO looking forward to the new IT movie! It looks creepy as fuck and I can’t wait.  Not sure how they’re going to improve on the original Pennywise the Clown though.  He was so scary he gave half the population a clown phobia!!

Anyway, here are some of the things I’ve been loving over the last week and a bit.  Happy Sunday Everyone!

Meet Literature’s Newest Heart-throb – Colonel Sanders!

I LOL’d so hard when I saw this!

In a move that proves no company is above exploiting Mother’s Day, KFC has released its very first romance novel: Tender Wings of Desire – starring the ripped Colonel Sanders!  I have so many questions.  Like, why? And is it any good??

I am now imagining 50 Shades of KFC.

and now that I’ve put that image in your head, let’s go to something a bit more serious.

Favourite Post: Love and Books by Donalyn Miller (@ Nerdy Book Club)

This is a beautiful and tender post where Donalyn tells the story of her husband reading Ramona Blue aloud in the car to her and her 18 year old daughter.  I’ve heard a lot about Ramona Blue over the last few weeks.  Other reviews have left me unconvinced.  This post wasn’t even really about the book so much as the moment that the family shared, but the post has definitely made me more likely to pick up Ramona Blue and read it!

This week’s favourite eats: Strawberry Chia Overnight Oats (@ Eat Yourself Skinny)

This looks soooo good! It’s not going to be strawberry season here for quite some time but frozen will do for now.

Best advice: How much of a buffer should you have in your checking account  (@ Natalie Bacon)

Unfortunately, the answer to this question is not, “$6.21.”

That’s it for now! I haven’t read many reviews this week.  I’m not sure why.  Next weekend is the Auckland Writer’s Festival.  I am so freaking excited!! I’ve really got to get into my TBR pile for the festival.  So far all I’ve managed to read is a couple of chapters of Bad Feminist, and Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey.  Not a particularly impressive amount given all the authors that are going to be there.

Wishing you a week full of books and laughter!!
